AMES, Inc. is a professional manufacturers' representative organization serving the municipal, commercial and industrial markets with water and wastewater treatment equipment, pumps and appurtenances, plumbing and H.V.A.C. equipment. We pride ourselves in specification writing with the consulting engineers, government, and municipalities. In our (50 +) years in business, we have gained the respect of engineers, purchasing agents and contractors throughout the states of Maryland, Southern Delaware,Eastern Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. We build approximately 600 panels per year in our UL Approved shop. Our facility is equipped with (2) forklifts, paint spray booth, electrical test station, motor test station and water booster test station. With sufficient data, our shop can repair most manufacturers' pump, including warranty service. Currently our computerized inventory is in excess of $280,000.00. |

Our new modern facility as of March 18, 1996, purchased by David and Frank McQuilkin, is centrally located in Columbia, Maryland, between the metropolitan areas of Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. The office sits on 1-1/2 acres of land with large outdoor storage facilities; consisting of 11,500 square feet of which 6,000 square feet is utilized for offices, and 5,000 square feet for shop and inventory storage. Outside storage is also used for basins, septic tanks, covers, etc. |

AMES, Inc. was established in 1957 under the name K.F. McQuilkin Company. In 1973, MESSCO was formed as a service shop and warranty repair station, primarily to serve Ames, Inc. MESSCO expanded into a fabrication shop for electrical panels and water booster systems. In March 1988, MESSCO merged with AMES, Inc. trading as Ames/MESSCO to simplify bookkeeping procedures. In October of 1991, David & Frank McQuilkin purchased the business from Mac McQuilkin. |
